Terms of Service

The rules of the road for Sage.

By using Sage you agree to these terms. We tried to keep them short and reasonable. If something here is unclear, email us.

1. Who can use Sage

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Sage account. By signing up you confirm that the information you provide (especially your email) is accurate and yours.

Sage is currently available to residents of the United States. We may expand to other regions in the future.

2. Your account

You're responsible for what happens with your account. Keep your password safe; don't share it. Tell us right away at hello@sage.app if you suspect someone else is using your account.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or harm other users.

3. What you can post

You can post about and sell:

  • Used and new household items, kids' gear, books, electronics, furniture, and similar.
  • Local family-friendly events you're hosting or attending.
  • Honest, helpful comments and messages.

4. What you can NOT post

  • Anything illegal under U.S. federal or California state law.
  • Weapons, ammunition, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, cannabis products, or anything age-restricted.
  • Recalled or unsafe products (especially infant items — we actively check the CPSC recall list).
  • Counterfeit goods or items that infringe trademark or copyright.
  • Stolen property, prescription medication, body parts or fluids, or live animals.
  • Adult content, violence, hate speech, harassment, or content that targets minors.
  • Spam, multi-level-marketing pitches, or referral schemes.
  • Content that impersonates someone else or misrepresents your relationship to a brand.

We screen every listing and message with AI for the items above. Anything that's flagged is reviewed by a human before going (or staying) live.

5. Marketplace transactions

Sage is a venue. When you buy or sell something on Sage, you and the other parent are entering into a private transaction with each other — Sage is not a party to that sale.

We strongly recommend:

  • Meeting in a public place (cafe, library, transit station).
  • Inspecting items in person before paying.
  • Using payment methods that protect both sides (Venmo, Zelle, cash).
  • Never sharing financial details or passwords over chat.

Sage doesn't take a cut of marketplace sales. We don't charge listing fees. The full price goes to the seller.

6. Deals and outbound retailer links

Our Deals section links to retailers so you can redeem offers and promo codes. Individual deals may be plain editorial links (no affiliate) or may participate in affiliate programs (e.g. Skimlinks or Amazon Associates) when we encode that partnership on the deal record — in those cases Sage may earn a commission on qualifying actions. You are not charged extra; see our Affiliate Disclosure which we keep aligned with FTC guidance.

7. Content you upload

You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions, and messages you post on Sage. By posting, you grant Sage a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content on Sage so the platform can function. You can revoke this license at any time by deleting your post or your account.

Don't upload photos or content you don't have the right to use.

8. Reporting and takedowns

Every listing, deal, event, and message has a Report button. If you see something that violates these terms or U.S. law, please report it. We review every report within 24 hours.

For DMCA copyright takedowns, email hello@sage.app with subject “DMCA” and the standard required information.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new “last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or via email.

You can stop using Sage and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that materially violate these terms or threaten the safety of the community.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Sage is provided “as is.” While we work hard to make it safe and useful, we can't guarantee that every listing is accurate, that every other parent will follow the rules, or that the site will be uninterrupted.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Sage and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the site, and our total liability is capped at $100 USD.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing hello@sage.app will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
